Achille is a town located in Bryan County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 506.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 506 people, 185 households, and 133 families residing in the town. The population density is 500.9/km² (1,310.7/mi²). There are 213 housing units at an average density of 210.9/km² (551.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 71.34% White, 0.20% African American, 22.33% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 5.34% from two or more races. 0.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 185 households out of which 38.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% are married couples living together, 14.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% are non-families. 23.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.28.

In the town the population is spread out with 33.0% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.5 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $19,875, and the median income for a family is $24,000. Males have a median income of $21,190 versus $14,904 for females. The per capita income for the town is $11,324. 34.5% of the population and 32.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 39.6% of those under the age of 18 and 9.8% are 185 or older.
